This week’s topic is inspired a LinkedIn comment on one of my recent posts. Email marketing is often neglected in the overall marketing strategy of professional speakers. Beyond direct outreach, you may not be leveraging email to get the maximum benefit. It’s time to add it to your marketing toolkit. Below is one email marketing strategy I use with my clients to book them more speaking gigs. Pro Tip of the Week: Comment to reach more people on LinkedInLinkedIn is a great tool to build awareness around who you are and what you do. Most speakers who are actively growing their LinkedIn focus on creating and posting content, but they’re missing a key strategy: commenting on other people’s posts. This does a few things:
So next time you post on LinkedIn, take 20 minutes to also leave value-add comments on other people’s posts too. Recommendation of the Week: The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil BloomLiving a wealthy life encompasses more than your financial assets. Sahil compiled qualitative and quantitative research along with his own experiences to come up with the 5 types of wealth needed to design your dream life. As a professional speaker, it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers: speaking fees, gigs booked, revenue earned. This book can help you recalibrate and focus on what really matters to you. I also recommend his newsletter, The Curiosity Chronicle. Book more speaking gigs using this one email strategyLet’s be honest, when you’re getting started as a speaker, you’re going to have to put in some time playing the direct outreach game. This is where you’re going to reach out directly associations, decision-makers, and fill out requests for proposals. Direct outreach will always have a place in your strategy, but there is a way to get more out of the gigs you already book. Let’s talk about how this works. Once you have a talk booked, you want to use that audience to book 2-3 more gigs. Here’s how:
There are more people in that audience you spoke to that will want to hire you. Make it easy for them to!
