“I made my day easy but my tomorrow harder.”

Know who said that?

Merril Hoge.

(Don’t worry, I had to look him up too)

I listened to his interview on the SpeakPact Podcast and the above quote stuck out to me right away.

For some additional context, Merril is a professional speaker who has overcome career-ending trauma as a former NFL player, depression, cancer, and open heart surgery.

In his speaking, he uses his “Find A Way” motto that resonates not only with his audiences, but likely with you and me as well.

When you’re in the thick of growing your speaking business, you have high highs, low lows, and a lot of ebb and flow in between.

And when we’re in the lower dips, it’s easy to let revenue-generating tasks slide (especially if it’s not our favorite thing to do, like outreach).

But if you stop, the momentum stops.

Blowing off what you need to do to grow makes today easy, but tomorrow that much harder.

In simpler terms, it’s like hitting the gym for 30 days, then deciding to take a morning or two off because you didn’t feel like it. It’s a lot harder to get back on track after that—physically and mentally.

Here’s something to ponder: What are you putting off today that is going to make your tomorrow harder?

Is it outreach?

Is it sending follow up emails?

Is it working on your business model and strategy?

One clarification: this is different than allowing yourself to rest and recover. Allow yourself to rest intentionally, but don’t keep putting off what needs to be done to reach your goals.

If one of the things you keep putting off is setting up your email sequences in Talkadot to earn spin-off business, then it may be time to outsource the work.

I’ve created a new “Talkadot Bundle” specifically for professional speakers. It includes:

  • A Book-A-Call Sequence for Booking Leads
  • A Referral Sequence for Referral Leads
  • A Speech Continuation Sequence for Email Opt-Ins
